From past achievements to ongoing efforts and future aspirations, discover how Lumaify is dedicated to minimizing our footprint on the planet and nurturing our community.

Accomplishments

Local Workforce

At Lumaify, we believe in supporting our local community. Our workforce comprises individuals from our neighbourhood, and we prioritize flexible working arrangements, most work 7 days in ever 14 and those that can and want to work remotely. Not only does this reduce carbon emissions from travel, but it also fosters a happier workplace environment with more time spent at home.

Made Local

We proudly manufacture our lights locally, ensuring that they are produced in the same place they are sold. Currently focused on Ireland, we’re expanding our operations to the UK by the end of 2024. By keeping production close to home, we reduce transportation emissions and support local economies.

Accomplishments

Designed To Reduce Waste

When designing our lights and fittings, waste reduction is a top priority. We carefully consider materials and manufacturing processes to minimize waste and environmental impact without compromising on quality or aesthetics.

Sustainable Sourcing

We prioritize suppliers and manufacturers who share our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. By sourcing materials locally whenever possible, we support neighboring businesses and reduce our carbon footprint.

Recycling Our Waste

We’re committed to minimizing waste at every stage of production. Our primary waste material, sawdust from crafting our lights, is recycled to create particleboard, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

Reducing Plastic Waste

Plastic waste is a concern for us, which is why we’ve taken steps to minimize its use in our production and packaging. From eliminating plastic in our packaging materials to offering plastic-free delivery options, we’re dedicated to reducing plastic waste wherever possible.

Accomplishments

Packaging Free Delivery

For those who share our commitment to sustainability, we offer packaging free delivery options. By removing and reusing packaging materials post-delivery, we not only help the planet but also pass on cost savings to our customers.

Refurb, Reuse Or Recycle

Our responsibility doesn’t end with the sale. When our products reach the end of their lifecycle, we offer collection services to refurbish, reuse, or recycle them. By closing the loop, we ensure that our impact on the environment is minimized at every stage.

Ongoing Efforts

Reduced working hours

At Lumaify, we prioritize the well-being of our employees. Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, 60% of our workforce currently enjoys reduced working hours, averaging 35 hours per week. By the end of 2024, our goal is to extend this benefit to 100% of our employees, ensuring everyone has time to recharge and thrive.

Rainwater Haveresting

As part of our efforts to conserve resources, we’re implementing a rainwater harvesting system at our workshop. This initiative will allow us to reduce our reliance on tap water by 50%, with plans to achieve 100% reliance on rainwater within the next five years. By harnessing nature’s gift, we’re taking steps towards a more sustainable water management system.

Ongoing Efforts

Going Papperless

In line with our commitment to sustainability, we’re actively reducing our paper usage. By the end of 2024, our aim is to transition to a completely paperless operation, minimizing our environmental footprint and embracing digital solutions for a greener future.

Energy Efficiency

We’re committed to reducing our energy consumption and environmental impact. By upgrading our workshop lighting from incandescent bulbs to energy-efficient LED technology, we’ve already achieved a 75% reduction in lighting power consumption. This transition will be fully completed by the start of 2024, demonstrating our dedication to sustainable practices and innovation.

Future Aspirations

Increased Waste Recycling

Building on our current efforts, we’re committed to enhancing our waste management practices. While we currently recycle 70% of our waste, by 2027, our aim is to increase this to an impressive 95%. Through innovation and dedication, we’re striving to minimize our environmental footprint and maximize resource conservation.

100% Renewable Energy

By harnessing the power of nature, we’re setting our sights on a future powered entirely by renewable energy. By the start of 2025, our workshop will be fully operational on 100% renewable energy sources, further reducing our carbon footprint and leading the way towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

Future Aspirations

Transition to Electric Vehicles

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we’re looking to revolutionize our transportation practices. While we currently allow our workforce to utilize company vehicles for personal use, we plan to expand our fleet and transition to fully electric vehicles by 2027. By embracing electric mobility, we’re driving towards a greener future for our community and the planet.

Community Building Project

In 2024, we’re excited to embark on community-building initiatives that leave a lasting impact. Through two special projects, we aim to give back to our community by creating installations for public use. While we’re keeping the details under wraps for now, stay tuned for updates on how we’re making a difference in the places we call home.

Finally, we really want to do what we say be better make a difference

At Lumaify, we hold ourselves accountable to our sustainability commitments. However, we recognize that there’s always room for improvement. Your feedback is invaluable to us. Whether you’ve noticed areas where we can do better or have ideas for how we can enhance our sustainability efforts, we’re eager to hear from you.

Rest assured that every suggestion is taken seriously and considered carefully. Together, let’s continue to strive for positive change and make a lasting impact on our planet and communities.
